Jonathan Haggerty, Amir Naseri Trade Barbs On Instagram Ahead Of ONE On Prime Video 1
The ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Grand Prix alternate match between British star Jonathan Haggerty and Iranian-Malaysian sensation Amir Naseri may be four weeks away, but the two elite strikers are already engaging in a battle of words on social media.
From the looks of it, Naseri threw the first shot.
Earlier this month, the 30-year-old posted the bout card for ONE on Prime Video 1: Moraes vs. Johnson II (then called ONE 161), expressed his excitement to face Haggerty on August 26, and mentioned that he would stop the #2-ranked flyweight Muay Thai contender.
Naseri posted:
“Boom 💥 super pumped for this stacked card on @onechampionship 161, looking forward to finishing former Champion Jonathan Haggerty and getting right back on top where I belong 💯🚀 let’s go!”
It did not take long for Haggerty to fire back.
The Englishman responded in the comments section with a line implying that Naseri wouldn’t be able to get the job done at ONE on Prime Video 1.
Haggerty replied:
“You couldn’t finish your dinner.”
Naseri, however, couldn’t help but to respond with a final zinger.
The Tiger Muay Thai representative is eager to fight Haggerty and with a fear of his rival missing the flyweight limit, he played off the Englishman’s comment with a parting shot.
He commented:
“@jhaggerty_ 😂 let’s hope you make weight this time, maybe don’t finish yours 😂”

Jonathan Haggerty and Amir Naseri are knee-deep in their training camps and diligently preparing for their ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Grand Prix alternate showdown at ONE on Prime Video 1 on August 26, as both men are yearning for the opportunity to step back into the biggest Muay Thai tournament on the planet.
Haggerty was originally forced to withdraw from the field just hours before his quarterfinals clash with Walter Goncalves at ONE 157: Petchmorakot vs. Vienot on May 20 due to health reasons. But now, “The General” is medically cleared and feels like fate has given him a second chance, so he is making the most of it.
The British star recently gave an update on his status ahead of the high-stakes contest:
“My work ethic has been unmatched this fight camp. I’m coming to make a big statement again.”
Naseri is motivated, too.
After falling to Savvas Michael in a competitive three-round quarterfinals bout at ONE 157, the Iranian-Malaysian dynamo is training hard at Tiger Muay Thai and refuses to let this second opportunity slip through his hands.
With both men fired up and trading barbs on Instagram, things will only get more exciting in the weeks to come.
