Lara Fernandez

By her own admission, Lara Fernandez wasn’t a natural born fighter.

Fernandez was born and raised in Cebolla, Spain, where she lived with her parents, older sister, and younger brother. Her father was a farmer, and this provided a comfortable life for her family. Growing up, the atomweight star loved dancing and played team sports such as volleyball and soccer. 

At 15 years old, Fernandez stumbled across Muay Thai at a local event, and “the art of eight limbs” instantly piqued her interest. She started training at a nearby gym and at 16, moved away from her family to join Lone Wolf Fight Team and dedicate herself to her new passion.

While her early competition results were mixed, the Spaniard’s perseverance and dedication eventually led her to become one of the best female strikers on the planet. In 2019, she captured the prestigious ISKA Kickboxing World Title and followed that up in 2020 with the WBC Muay Thai World Title. 

Fernandez signed with ONE Championship in 2022 and was thrust straight into a high-stakes matchup against atomweight kickboxing queen Janet Todd for the ONE Interim Atomweight Muay Thai World Title. While she came up short in her promotional debut, the Spaniard showed tremendous heart in pushing Todd for the full five rounds and promises to be a star of the atomweight division for years to come.
